Project Overview and Scope:
- Project was completed on time and within budget
- PEMB was 78’ x 120’ x 15’. Included a 26’ x 92’ lean-to
- New building was a rooftop structure that was constructed on the top level of a new, four story, precast concrete structure and was tied to the existing building
- Given the difficulties associated with rooftop staging and construction, LBS worked extensively with general contractor on design, pre-planning and construction to ensure all needs were met
- Safety requirements were challenging due to the limited space and dangers of a rooftop construction environment
Key Building Features:
- Structure is the mechanical penthouse for the existing building and houses the research facility
- Project included multiple louvers, hoods, and roof curbs to meet mechanical design needs
- Project was the second phase of construction. LBS completed the first phase in 2009 and was subsequently selected to perform the PEMB construction for Phase Two
